KRTK - UPDATE/REDESIGN

Image
Kratky (link to pdf from originator) is an existing system. Duckduckgo it, take the hawaii version.   This is an update.  Below the pictures is a link to the "stadslandbouw" blog's article on kratky. (Blog in Flanders' speak. (They've fucked up the meaning of "Flemish".))

SPPRT - UPDATE/REDESIGN

Image
Starts from the observation of the ideas of John Jeavons: "grow more food than you ever... "Where he uses part of the site to grow stuff to add to other parts, green manures etc. A second conception is that of a stone mulch with material in a container, without any plant or soil. A bit of water, organic material, basaltrocks. The reduction of the organic material will etch out the basalt, thus giving nutrient material.

WRMTWR - UPDATE/REDESIGN

Image
Update, bringing in the mulch-layer to steer the bacteria in the system more towards the target.     I is the "castings". II is material being processed III is the mulch mimicking layer IV is the finished bucket waiting for harvesting V is the "leachate", "wormjuice", given to plants ten to one, water.  Notice the holes in the sides. These buckets are foodgrade.

PKSTN - UPDATE/REDESIGN

Pakistan as well russian system have updates. Find originals online. Pakistan system by: 1. screwing/unscrewing the cap - thus the pressure of the water regulates the opening and thus the amount of drip: more in the beginning, less later, as the pressure gets smaller. At times one needs to re-unscrew in the middle of the emptying of the bottle.  2. removing the bottom, to allow for lemna to grow, to block the algae from growing, to add a level of supplying water to insects because they can land on the lemna, and reducing evaporation, and providing mulch materials.  System not in use atm.  Pakistaans

RSSN - UPDATE/REDESIGN

Image
Russian is modified such that only one bottle needs to be cut. The top one is intact, the bottom one has become a beaker, compared to devastation of the material in the original design. Wrappers from chocolate - much like everyone knows someone who uses plastic bottles, we all know someone who eats chocolate...  - are the tin foil wrapper around the lace of a throdden sneaker.   This illustrates the current issue at hand: The bottle empties for a part in the cup/beaker, yet somehow it rather contracts and reduces in size then draw air to blow that space reduction out again. Larger ones have similar problems, regardless of stuff such as knots in the cap. (current situation: solution design = remove cap; state: designed.).  UPDATE-2025.258:  1. current last bottle is filled with a mixture of water and leachate from leaves and branches in a plastic basin. 2. There remained an issue with the bottom.  In the first version, with the...
