So, what is that all about: Urban Farming DIY?

English - bit different.

It's about making DIY - do it yourself - devices that are connected to urban situations. Either by design, filling in a urban farming need, or by origin, such as waste-resources being turned into an asset.

There are a few conditions, some "starting-conditions" (without which it won't start up), some "side-conditions"(without which it won't keep running). Re-filling a reservoir of a drip-system is "side". Designing the drip-system from a bottle and carving it out is "starting".

The environment is "urban". That means a concentration of resources, be it materials/waste or time and experience of all the people there. (The smaller the space, the more energy and time per square meter can be invested on a site... That also brings stuff such as drip-irrigation in unit-systems - eg one dripper or one wick or ... - into the perspective. Over larger areas that would be un-tangible, yet in small amounts low-material-high-time systems make more sense...)

It means urban situations, be it rock-hard walls and streets, surfaces guiding winds, water and even solar radiation, be it blocking the sun, be it storing the heat. It's large swaths of glass, at times, depending on which city, there is water/canals/...

The idea is to use waste materials to create stuff aiding in growing plants in an urban setting. Included the idea of people having little experience nor time to be in the "garden" - which can be a rooftop, a balcony or a repurposed parking spot with IBCs and what not...

The idea is to look at nature, oftentimes at certain physics processes, to Observe the Systems there and mimic them.

The idea is to do this within the ODS-N framework.

The idea is to look at nature, mimic those conditions. Like a city is an open space inside a rock - that at times lays in/near/at stream.

The idea is to keep the resources as clean as possible, available and what not.

Hence eg only make holes in buckets if un-avoidable. That reduces its capacity to hold liquids or eg soil. A hole in a bucket is often irreparable as an opening of a semi- or non-permeable screen between two media/environments, as the side of the bucket is between the soil within and the air outside.
